The first flap of the book "Hybrid Sabji Chash" reads:
Bangladesh has achieved remarkable success in vegetable production in recent times. In the last 40 years since independence, vegetable production has increased by about 5 times. However, the population has increased by more than double. As a result, Bangladesh has now achieved the third position in vegetable production in the world after China and India in terms of yield increase. Not only has the yield increased, but now almost all vegetables are available throughout the year. Earlier, gourds and cauliflower were available only in winter. Now, thanks to various hybrid varieties, gourds are being harvested even in the summer-monsoon season. Vegetables like cucumber, bitter gourd, cauliflower, cabbage, rice pumpkin, sweet pumpkin, gourd, tomato, etc. are now available in the market even in off-season. All this has been possible thanks to hybrid varieties. Now about 98 percent of the vegetable seeds used in the country are hybrid varieties. But unfortunately, the truth is that vegetable farmers do not have the necessary knowledge about hybrid vegetable cultivation in these varieties. Hybrid vegetable cultivation requires special management. Otherwise, the yield will not be good. This is the first book written in this country on hybrid vegetables. Hopefully, the book 'Hybrid Vegetable Cultivation' written by agriculturist Mrityunjay Roy will be of great benefit to modern vegetable farmers.
