The story begins with a chilling enigma: Yuuki Yamakawa, a nine-year-old orphan, falls to her death from the 14th floor of a construction site in Tokyo. The case is physically impossible—Yuuki was too short to reach the elevator button for that floor. CCTV footage reveals a mysterious cloaked figure accompanying her for mere seconds before vanishing.
Yoru Kinoshita, an unhinged reporter who finds amusement in the patterns of crime scenes rather than fear, takes on the case. Alongside the brilliant detective Tsukihiko Rei (Blue) and Kugo Ishayama, Yoru delves into a dark web of psychological manipulation. Their investigation leads them to Hajime Kurose, a seemingly perfect honor student whose calm exterior masks a terrifyingly superior intellect.
